This weekend, I delivered the first copies of Unfriendly Fire to Congress, meeting with four offices, including Rep. Jared Polis, the first openly gay non-incumbent Congressman. I also met with the one Republican office supporting repeal, Rep. Ros-Lehtinen, and the office dog, Maya, who looks just like my dog Romeo and with whom I became fast friends. After Friday night’s Anderson Cooper appearance I had a lovely time Saturday night at SLDN’s grand annual dinner, where a highlight for me was speaking with Greta Cammermeyer, an early challenger to the gay ban, who was played by Glenn Close in the film, “Serving in Silence.” Monday night’s book signing at Lambda Rising drew over 40 people for a rousing conversation about the prospects for repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”
Sigh. The halls of Congress are not what I expected…
can you give them some tips on lighting while you are there?
I really thought you brought Romeo to Congress with you, then I read the post.
